First step to building any software is to have the right tools. For us developers, this means having to set up our local development enviroment.
📄️ Text Editors
Text editor is the most used tool by developers. Having a good text editor can help you a lot with writing code and spotting mistakes.
📄️ Command Line
Have you ever heard of command line (or terminal)? You have certainly seen one, probably in movies depicting hackers. Those black windows with loads of white or green text, hackers hacking into the bank, mainframe or whatever else producers can think of.
📄️ Python, REPL, and Script Files
As we mentioned in the previus lesson, Python is a command (a program) that you run by typing python (or python3 depending on your operating system). For this to work, Python must be installed and in your PATH. If you have been following along with our course, Python should be preinstalled on your system, which you can verify by running python --version command. This will output your currently installed Python version or produce an error if there is no system-wide Python installed.
